The sixth summer of the Boston Waterfront Initiative’s Waterfront Ambassadors program drew to a close in mid-August. Eleven youth ambassadors from the Greater-Boston area joined the Trustees Boston Waterfront team to learn about the Trustees’ commitment to the Boston community, particularly East Boston, acting as liaisons for the organization throughout the summer.
This year we hosted our 3rd Annual Family Festival series from July through September. It was as special as ever, as we welcomed over 600 people at 3 events. It was a summer we will continue to cherish.
We had a phenomenal time engaging people with our varied events this spring and summer. Now, as we move into fall and winter, we will continue to engage all of you in meaningful ways.
On a beautiful late-summer day in Boston, community partners, local elected officials, corporate sponsors, supporters, and friends gathered at the One Waterfront Gala, a celebration of the momentum of the Trustees’ Boston Waterfront Initiative.

Ten youth ambassadors from the Greater-Boston area joined the Trustees Boston Waterfront team to learn about the Piers Park III project and East Boston community, acting as liaisons for the Trustees throughout the summer.
The 2023 Waterfront Ambassadors season is underway. Throughout the summer, ten teens employed by The Trustees Boston Waterfront Initiative program will learn about waterfront issues in and around their neighborhoods and communities, and work with local non-profits and environmental organizations in Greater Boston.
The Trustees’ Coastal and Boston Waterfront Initiative teams joined The Stone Living Lab—an innovative and collaborative initiative for testing and scaling up nature-based approaches to climate adaptation, coastal resilience and ecological restoration—for its first ever conference entitled “Nature-Based Coastal Resilience in Urban Settings” April 26 – 28, 2023 at the UMass Boston Campus. The Trustees took part in the program and gave two presentations at the conference: Lessons Learned: Policy, Permitting & Funding Strategies and Resilient Coastal Design, Partnerships & Community Engagement.
